After a basic lunch in a local restaurant we will begin our hiking adventure!

Hiking adventure in the National Park
Each day the hiking distance will vary from 8-20 km (8-12.5 miles) through varying terrain. Along the way you will see peaceful lakes, enchanting forests and our playful wildlife. Your guide will introduce you to the local flora and fauna and share stories about what it is like growing up in Finland and the role nature plays in Finnish culture. If you are looking for a challenge, you’ll have a chance to use your orienteering skills to lead the group, or can leave that part to your guide. Each night you will stop at a new public wilderness hut and have the chance to rest up and test your campfire cooking skills as you prepare dinner.
We have a basic route plan and the exact program and timetable of the days are agreed among the group. We follow wilderness rules: everyone participates in making the meals, doing the dishes, cleaning the huts, we leave no trace and look out for one another. In general, the days will start around 8:00 AM with breakfast and packing. We will break for lunch at mid-day and stop for rests when needed or just to enjoy the views. Dinner and gear maintenance will take place when the group reaches the next wilderness hut, and after there is free time to relax or explore.
We will return to the lodge in the evening of day seven.
Meals included: Camp Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Lazy morning, local handicrafts and return to the airport
Enjoy a lazy morning in and big breakfast, you’ve earned it! We will check out and drive to a little village where you will have a chance to buy some local handicrafts or explore on your own. After a final group lunch, your guide will drive you to Ivalo airport so you can catch an evening flight back to Helsinki.
Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch
The first and the last night will be spent in a wilderness lodge with shared bunk beds. A traditional Finnish sauna will be available in the first and the last the evening. During the hike (days 2-7), the nights will be spen in public wilderness huts which are found throughout Finland have very simple conditions – no electricity and running water, shared bunks, and eco-toilets. One night we will also have access to a wilderness sauna. These huts are free for anyone to use so we may be sharing with other hikers.
